Walkathon Hikes

The Green Ribbon Trail

This beautiful 21 mile hiking trail, much of which is maintained by WVWA, is a natural, wooded trail that follows the scenic Wissahickon Creek. It is a fairly flat, rustic trail with a few stream crossings. Click on the map below for a printable map in PDF format.

The Long Hike - 21 Mile Challenge

Hike the whole Green Ribbon Trail from North Wales to the Schuylkill River. The Challenge Hike is for hikers who walk at a fast, rigorous pace. Must be 15 years+

Hike times: 7:30am -- 4:30pm

Registration/Check-in: 7:00-7:20 (come early)

7 stream crossings with temporary planks.

The Medium Hike - 7 or 11 Miles

Hike from North Wales 7 miles to WVWA’s headquarters in Ambler, or 11 miles to the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown. Must be 10 years+

Hike times: 8:30 - 12:00pm (7 mi.) 8:30 - 2:00pm (11 mi.)

Registration/Check-in: 8:00am - 8:20pm

7 stream crossings with temporary planks.

The Short Hike - 2.5 or 4 Miles

Walk 2.5 miles from WVWA’s headquarters in Ambler to the Fort Washington State Park, or 4 miles to the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown. A great family hike; best for 7 years+.

Park at Germantown Academy’s tennis courts lot on Morris Road - we’ll bus you to WVWA.

Hike times: 9:00 - 10:00am (2.5 mi.) 9:00 - 11:00am (4 mi.)

Registration/Check-in: 8:15 - 8:45am

Several inclines, one crossing.
